Major: Architecture (This Major's Salary over time)
The most impressive assets of Carnegie Mellon Urban design program is their faculty cohort and the course structure. The core courses are structured very well and tie up brilliantly with the studio design prohects. There's a lot of emphasis on Research and there are courses every semester focussed on improving yput software skillset amongst others which is a great asset to have when trying to get a job. The faculty cohort is as impressive as it gets yet is extremely kind, easy to access and eminently friendly and involved in each students overall development. There are opportunities for students to TA certain classes and there are several faculties who employ students for research but that is an aspect that could get even better. The workload immense. Spending nights in studio is common but it is equally rewarding since the knowledge you gain is unmatched. The students come from diverse backgrounds and are helpful and driven. Do not be surprised to meet some brilliant batchmates who could go on to become superstars in the future. The campus is well laid out and maintained and the facilities are connstantly being improved. The negatives: the campus food is despicable and social life can be impacted heavily due to the severe workload. Pittsburghs weather does not do it justice. It is actually a lovely city with several interesting neighborhoods and lots of activities. Overall Carnegie Mellon is a brilliant school if you are willing to put in the work and able to absorb the course load.
