Good advice and I'm sorry for you. UMO is a sinking ship and anyone any sense should know not to go there. |
You're right. UMO sucks big time. |
Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
I enrolled in the EE program in 1986. I was accepted into the program without having any calculus before and promptly flunked out. 80% of my class flunked out. We were only there to write the university a big check and then go away. The university staff told me to stay in and get a degree because it was a ticket to a great job. I transferred over to poli sci because I was good at government in high school. I spent the next four years digging myself out of a big hole with my GPA. The entire time the University President was getting all kinds of bad press for corruption and publicly made racist statements. I graduated in 1990 and about a month later, there was a nice article in the newspaper about an academic cheating scandal in the poli sci department. Like most of the people I graduated with, I wound up in a lousy paying job as a sales clerk and getting laughed out of every job interview I had. Employers saw 22 year old unskilled labor and threw me out. I wound up joining the Navy to find a career. My degree from this school is a time proven minus on the resume. The university lied through their teeth about the value of their degrees! The university's reputation is terrible and I want my money back! My parents were scammed out of a lot of money! The admissions/sales office will lie like hell about how their graduates are doing after graduation. I run into people I graduated with and they are all in dead end lousy paying jobs and say that their degrees were not worth getting. My advice to people is to focus on technology jobs. Now I make $100k/year because of my Navy schools. I would talk to a Navy recruiter and look at the GI Bill if I were you.
