Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time)
The Computer Science major does not prepare students for employment as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or anything remotely similar. The curriculum is test-based rather than project-based, so you will not develop a coding portfolio or even understand how to develop a functioning application. You will learn basic theory at a mind-numbingly slow pace from a teacher who can barely function in the English language and has no skill with instruction or curriculum development. Essentially, she reads the text book every lecture, occasionally assigns work from the book (that she rarely grades) and never assigns useful projects. You have no opportunity for creativity in any of the CS courses. I am convinced that you could learn better and more quickly on your own from YouTube videos, but, alas, you don't get that magical piece of paper called a degree from YouTube videos, even if you learn more from them. This sort of problem is what will cause employers to lose all faith in the value of university degrees and will eventually put universities out of business. The secret is getting out. The degree is worthless.
