Massachusetts Maritime Academy

Mass Maritime is a sucky place to be at. I'm not going to lie and say that the college experience at the academy is "enjoyable". You go here because you want to go the license track or you're from Massachusetts and you're looking for an affordable education and you're looking to differentiate your degree from the thousands graduating from the UMASS system and other state universities. You're going to get a lot more individualized attention here from your professors than you will get at the other state schools; when your class size is ~300 and there are ~50 -70 kids in your major it's hard not to.

I hate admitting it, but being apart of Mass Maritime has made all the difference in my professional life and opportunities I've been afforded. I was able to get my current position because the CEO I was interviewing with saw "MMA" while looking through resume's for my current position. He had worked for a company that hired a lot of MMA grads and selected me primarily because he knew the pedigree of the school. A position over 1500 miles away from Taylor's Point. The alumni network stretches across the US and internationally. It's not a stretch to say that going to MMA, if you put in the work, will pay dividends for your future.

But like a few other alumni have said. Great place to come from, but you couldn't pay me to do it all over again.
