SFSU has its advantages and disadvantages… It is an extremely diverse campus, with virutally every ethnicity having strong representation. It is located in a major city which offers lots of educational, recreational and cultural advantages… It has all the advantages of a large state school… A large selection of classes to choose from, lots of programs etc… But also some drawbacks. Being a mainly commuter school, it can be rather hard to meet people and socialize… Teachers, however, are surprisingly accessible for such a large student population. The campus itself is unnatractive. Its buildings are functional, not esthetic, and there are not enough green areas. There are many clubs and student organizations ranging a wide variety of interests… Academics can be challenging, and some teachers are creative in their own style… But at times one can feel like a number instead of a student. Too many required GE classes in my opinion… Overall a satisfying college experience… Not much to rave about, but it's pretty good.
