Date: Aug 12 2001 Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time) I had a great time at UMD - made some great friends, rarely attended classes, and found their IT Department, like most University IT Departments woefully inadequite. It wasn't for lack of trying, schools cannot keep up with the rate of change in this industry, its impossible. If you want to go anywhere in the IT industry, and find school consuming and engaging, and are doing well - the bad news is, you probably won't do much more than spend the rest of your life as a middle management drone. If you find corsework tedious and repeditive, do yourself a favor - find an entry level job, take a few more classes, drop out and get serious.UM-D was a great school, with a fun campus, a great place to go, hang out, get high, play chess, and have picnics on the hill. The philosophy department, and several of the other departments have (or had, its been a few years) great professors, and the student body kept me entertained through my "careless years".College built character, it gave me a few fun years where I tried a bunch of things, as an educational experiance, it played little significance in acheiving my current sucess now.
