BYU is a great institution. It's a large university, to be sure, but that provides for a diversity of backgrounds and experiences. I found that I learned as much (maybe more) from my interactions with fellow students and faculty outside of the classroom than inside. I got involved with student groups and made some lasting friendships there. It's a private religious school, which certainly isn't for everybody, but if it is for you, then it's a wonderful environment of faith in which to learn. Plus, the tuition is subsidized by the LDS Church, making it an amazing bargain.I would recommend visiting the campus and speaking to random students about the issues that are important to you. The "best school" is the one that's best for you. That sounds obvious, but I got pretty caught up in the rankings and numbers during high school and looked only at the most "prestigious" schools. I had some other great options, but I'm very glad in retrospect that I chose BYU. I got a great education that prepared me not only for work, but for life. (And I don't have any student loans to pay off). Feel free to e-mail me with questions or for more information. I think these sort of websites are great for getting honest, unbiased info that helps you to be better informed about a very important decision.
