I wasted tens of thousands on an MSLIS degree from the University of North Texas. Got the straight A's (who doesn't?) and am now working in the same field I was in before library school. I have to place some blame on job prospects for librarians, which aren't great, but this half-ass school was no help. I got my undergraduate degree at UT-Austin, so my expectations for UNT were not high, but I was completely underwhelmed by my experience. Faculty was generally not impressive: first impression I got was when a professor wrote, "Here! Here!" on the blackboard, obviously she was not clued in to the fact that she meant, "Hear! Hear!" Jesus, I could go on.At least they try to get me to contribute as an alumnus, now that they need more money. I recycle without opening mailed envelopes and allow email to go to the spam folder. The campus is ugly, too.
