I'm
glad that most of the students here had a positive
experience at Geneseo. I, personally, had an absolutely horrific
experience there. The vast majority of my horrible time was
self-inflicted. Many of my biases come from the fact that
I was a depressed/alcoholic freshman, and did not take advantage
of what the college offered. That said, I
still think that you should seriously reconsider attending Geneseo.
There is nothing remotely interesting in town to do,
at all. Nothing. The campus revolves around Greek life.
Many of the guys are terribly unattractive and yet
shallow at the same time. I met very few
compassionate people. Most of the students are pseudointellectual (read:
imbeciles.) I've actually heard Geneseo students refer to the school
as, “Harvard on the Hill.” News flash- you are
not Harvard material! Most of the students I met
were incredibly stupid, actually.
I was accepted into
U of R, Northeastern, and a number of other decent
schools, and I lament to this day that I didn't
go ANYWHERE other than Geneseo. Again, this is very
biased... I hate small towns, they depress me to the
extreme, I hate frats/sororities, can't stand bimbos, religion turns me
off (and some of the students will shove it down
your throat, trust me.)
In summary, Geneseo isn't a
bad place for bubbly soccer kids that are future suburban,
minivan-driving stepford wives. If you hold a cross in
one hand and a beer in the other at the
same time, Geneseo is for you. Bonus points if
you force religious rhetoric on others while bombed out of
your mind.
If you love cities, diversity, intellectual challenges, different
viewpoints... my advice is to stay away.
Leaving Geneseo was
the best thing I ever did for myself. I
have an amazing GPA now. I'm happy. I'm HAPPY!
Screw you, Geneseo.
