If you want to attend a college with a friendly atmosphere, and interesting, intelligent, unique students, avoid Purchase like a kick in the crotch. If you were an outcast in high school, and dream of attending a college where youd be accepted for the very things that you were rejected for in high school, you will instead enjoy another four years of social rejection if you go to Purchase College. You will recognize the kinds of students at Purchase as the people in your high school that you didnt like. The average Purchase student can usually be considered shallow, vapid, and intellectually absent. I often find myself asking why most of the students here, who seem to have absolutely no interest in learning, are wasting their money going to college at all. The vast majority of the students here take drugs (no, not in a funny way) and drink heavily. Your options on the weekend are either to do the same or to be alone. The students here are remarkably unfriendly. If you walk past someone, theyll do anything not to make eye contact with or smile at you. Cliques here are as bad as in high school, with most students forgoing the creation of any relationship made after the first few months of freshman year.
If you are soon to attend college, I implore you to treat Purchase like a rabid animal and avoid it at all costs. Please dont make the same mistake I did. If you currently attend this school, transfer.
