Okay, I just read three negative comments about SU.  Two were from transfers.  However, I want to say something that needs to be said.  IF YOU GO HERE YOU WILL GROW, YOU WILL LOVE IT AND YOU WILL PROSPER.

I can not believe that people can call any part of this University negative??  Here's is my credibility:

1) I transfered there from another school

2) I was not in a frat

3) I was a resident advisor (i was an RA to over 150 kids in two years.

4) I wasn't a genius, i worked HARD

5) They make you EARN your keep, and I did.  I graduated as a class marshal

So...let me just elaborate a little here...This school is a place where you discover yourself.  I read people saying that it was just a party school, that it wasn't safe, and that unless you do greek life, you have no life..ALL FALSE.  I didn't do greek life, but i had TONS of friends i will have FOREVER.  I did do Mock trial (the school flies you first class to compete around the country) I did student govt (I was an assemblyman) I volunteered (at local middle schools) I was in a proffesional business frat called Delta Sigma Pi..the list goes on.

As for safety...they are obssesed with safety.  In my time there I NEVER had a problem (and i went out too!!!) Public Safety is always around and they have a blue light system so if you are in trouble you get INSTANT help.  Now, I mentioned I was an RA...I had over 200 kids in 2 yrs...NONE of them ever got Raped, mugged etc.  The worst thing that ever happened was they got locked out of their room b/c of their roomate.

This University is a place where whatever your major, whatever person you are...IF you are willing to be openminded, take risks (both social and academic) you will be rewarded.  If you sit and wait for campus life to embrace you it wont.  SU is a hands on school, you have to put your heart into all of it.  I have never had teachers who cared more..even when you are a freshman and in random classes...THEY CARE.  My old teachers send my x-mas cards, and when i was a student they INVITED me and other kids to DINNER at their houses!!!

All in all...if you are second guessing this school..DON'T.  Go look at it.  I will personally help anyone who has questions or anything.  Email me at I graduated this May and i have a GOOD job now and now my sister goes there.

Going to SU taught me who I was, who I could be, and gave me an outlook on life because if FORCES you to get one.  If you aren't willing to take risks to make yourself a succcessful person that SU is not for you.  If you are looking for a school that will give you even more after you graduate then you need to go here.  Please email me if you have a question, don't read the negative comments with any merit because those people haven't got a clue.  It's about a total perspective and the negative comments don't say anything about people who gave it their all, only the bare minimum.

responseI just went through your posts and a few more (negative ones). I am joining Syracuse for Fall 2008 for their iSchool IM program. I am in Boston, MA for last 2 years and I am very excited to realize that I am actually going back to school. The sole reason to go is to find myself which I never could with the books before. I am quite sure that what you said will come our way just as same. Thank You and thank you again.

questionI am looking to attend syracuse, but i will be playing a division 1 sport. my friend goes there and she loves it, but i am worried about the things i hear about...like the crime, narrow minded people, and boring city...what is ur take on these negative aspects? thank you!
