While I appreciate the inarguable value of a U of R degree, I feel that overall this college's environment proved very disappointing for me. Upon transferring here last year from a state school, I started my U of R education with high hopes and motivation to enjoy my years here to the fullest. My experience since that point in time continuously disillusioned and disheartened me. I immediately sought involvement in clubs and extracurricular activities, only to find that the club presence on campus was very half-hearted in comparison to my previous college- not to mention the fact that I couldn't attend any of the clubs I wanted, since most days I had class from early morning until late at night.
While I greatly appreciate the opportunity this school gave me by allotting me a full scholarship (as there is no way I could afford to attend this school otherwise), I perceive myself as little more than a random number in a pre-med factory farm. As much as I work to get involved in campus life (I am currently co-president of a group on campus) and attain good grades, I ultimately remain unhappy with my college experience.
