Basically if you want the traditional college experience with being challenged and having a social life, Case isnt for you. Being a sophomore who tried really hard freshman year and still managed to only pass a few classes at a time due to the lack of teaching ability, I can tell you that you arent going to actually learn anything in the first 2 years if you are a science/engineering major. Its all about going to SI sessions and looking at old test and regurgitating information, no actual learning occurrs. Classes are incredibly difficult in the science department due to the fact that they're always in large lecture rooms and the professors dont really care if you learn or not or even try. Most science professors are unapporachable and even say that on the first day of class. The people that get A's on everything dont even understand the information to teach it, but just know whats in the book word for word or some formula to use. to gain a true understanding of whatever class is nearly impossible as most teachers love to put their own spin on things and completely confuse you.

Case officials have the dumbest philosophy when it comes to campus rules and disciplinary actions when it comes to certain things. For example, a person who is charged with vandalism or plagiarism is either placed on social probation (diciplinary probation is what they like to coat it as) or suspension while someone underage caught with alcohol on more than one occasion or possession of marijuana (blatant possession I might add) just get kicked out of housing at the most, as if to say vandalism and academic integrity are more serious offenses in life than illegal possession of drugs and underage drinking.

The food here tastes like crap. The people who work at Leutner and Fribley are rude and disrespectful not to mention bad cooks. Everyday, you can taste something that is ill prepared or tastes funny. The workers just act as though its ok since they get paid anyway, which is true but we're the ones that have to suffer, paying at least 3k for the meal plan which sucks.

Freshmen dorms suck. someone's quad or room is always going to smell like ass and as a result the entire floor will too. There is virtually no social life here. Every weekend, there's nothing to do at all except homework. On the occassion where there is something (like a Club Delt), its full of wierdo nerds who want to be cool or the wanna be jocks (aka the Football team) who want to make out with some ugly disgusting chick in the middle of the dance floor because they're "cool." Speaking of these retards, you can see them everyday having pride in their team for being undefeated (in a division that no one even pays attention to) since they wear blue sweats or blue attire every day to class. The funny thing is that no one at this school even cares about sports or even know we have sports teams. But these guys are some of the most retarded jerks on campus. But campus life is all but dead. No alcohol anywhere unless someone gets a fake and goes to Boho (a corner store not far from northside). Most of the people here love to gloat about whatever grade they get in some hard class because they think it makes them look cool, when in all actuality it makes them look stupid since no one cares. There ARE people on the opposite end of the academic performance spectrum (dont get discouraged if you dont do so well in most of your engineering classes, more than likely CHEM 111 or MATH 121 or PHYS 121)

First day of Freshman year or orientation, you will hear alot of people say that they're majoring in some kind of engineering, just count on that by the time October is up, that number will be reduced to about half, and half of those will go down the next semester. Engineering is a hard major here no matter what kind since there are so many useless classes you have to take (like ENGR 131 or ENGR 145) and you really dont learn anything in them. Speaking of ENGR 131, dont copy anyone's program. The teachers (especially the nerdy guy teacher) is anal about it and will make up some evidence to get you in trouble even if you really didnt do anything. This school is really big on plagiarism (as any school should be), but they take it too far. Suspending someone (even though half the time they dont have enough proof or just go off some website) is common. Whatever lie they tell you about students having an advantage in those hearings isnt true since those students are chosen by faculty members of the actual board (basically brown nosers).

The mood of the general populus changes with the weather. The Greenies (campus bus system) is never dependable. The website will say it is 2 minutes away and in reality its 15 minutes and most of the time takes them longer than that.

so basically, just try to avoid case at all costs. That 20k scholarship may seem appealing (if they give you that much) but its not worth the hell you go through here. being depressed and miserable everyday no matter how involved with what little campus life you get. This is NOT a traditional college at all. You will be working non stop everyday. all work no play. and the people here have no personality whatsoever. You know you go to an anti-college when the topic of discussion on a monday about the weekend is

Hey did see that some guy came up with a new way to draw parametric curves and came up with a new Thermodynamic fomula for mass heat tranfer?
or something like that.
