What college did you attend before transferring to Case? |

Major: Chemical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
If you learn how to work the system at Case, you can get straight A's. I personally know three students that simply picked the easiest classes possible so that they could use Case's reputation for being a very difficult school to get into good graduate schools. The other good reason to go to school here is that if you fail to get into your 'first choice' university, go to Case for a year and get really good grades. Then try to transfer into your first choice college. Do not stay at Case thinking that in time you will like it better. If you notice from the previous comments, freshman usually give the best reviews of this university because they have nothing to compare it to. By the time students are in the last part of their sophomore year, they absolutely hate it here. The number of students that transfer out of this school is so great that the university refused to release the statistics last year. Many conversations begin with the phrase I transferred to Case based on the reputation and I believe I have made the greatest academic mistake of my career. I was learning so much at my last university. The professors really went out of their way to make sure every student understood the material. I came from a college where the atmosphere on campus was always pleasant and the students were genuinely friendly to each other. To be honest, a few of the professors and administrators at my previous university warned me that they had heard terrible things about Case. I normally get along with everyone, so I thought that I wouldn't have a problem at Case. My grades are still good at Case, but the cut-throat competitiveness is disgusting. The professors ration out their assistance based on who kisses ass the best. It is disheartening to witness this dynamic every day. Most of the assignments are simply busy-work. I truly do not feel that I am really learning anything except how to become a manipulative snob. I am taking difficult classes and I got a 4.0 last semester. Many business of my parents have remarked that they feel that a Case education simply does not live up to all the hype the administrators are putting out about the school. I guess that would explain the transfer statistics.I know there are a few people on this site who have said that they love it here, which I don't understand at all. I really loved that last university I attended, but it would be insane to transfer back now. All I can say is that if you are considering Case, during your campus visit ask exactly how many students transferred during the last 2 or 3 years and ask why these students transferred. If you currently enjoy learning and truly value your education, I believe it would be a mistake to come here.
