Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a junior at Ohio Wesleyan studying Economics. The academics at Ohio Wesleyan in the sciences are brutal. There is severe grade deflation, but graduates in these fields who do well here seem to have no problems placing in great graduate schools and awesome jobs. The humanities are probably the next best area of Ohio Wesleyan. The school has been going through a lot of strategic planning lately, with admission rates in the high 40%s and low 50%s. The major push seems to be to further improve the quality of the student body and raise the endowment. On the academic site, I have not been disappointed by OWU. I think the school is fairly diverse with a lot of kids from the Northeast and abroad. One of the negative aspects of Ohio Wesleyan is that Delaware is not exactly a town that has a lot to offer. Another negative aspect of the school is that it has stringent requirements for students to keep their academic scholarships. As a result a lot of them lose them and are asked to leave, which leaves a fairly sizable portion of students (20 per year?) negative about OWU. If you are looking for a small liberal arts college, very strong science curriculum, with a lot of international students and good merit aid, Ohio Wesleyan is your school. If you are looking for a party school with great social life, I suggest you look for another school.
