Here's the pros and cons on UA…

Pros:

  • Beautiful campus
  • Faculty are helpful, even though I have heard of people having bad experiences with some
  • Lots of resources such as computer labs that are usually open on campus for use
  • School spirit. We have lots of it!
  • Cons:

  • The city of Tucscon sucks. Pretty much nothing to do.
  • Therefore, the social life here is dominated by the greek life. You don't have to be greek to have a good time, but it helps. Since UA is dominated by greek, there's a lack of diversity.
  • This isn't the brightest school with the most driven or smartest kids. UA isn't a hard school to get into at all even though we have a pretty decent reputation as a school. Sure, we have an Honors College which is actually pretty hard to get into. But you'll see a lot of kids (especially in General Ed courses) who aren't very bright and don't care about their education. There is a very small amount of students that you will see who are geniuses.
  • Neutral:

  • The students. Some of very friendly and open minded. Others are stuck up with a poor attitude on others who may not be rich or part of Greek. I have a couple of friends who are part of sororities and either absolutely hate it or love it. But at any school, you're going to have that mix of students who are either friendly or not so friendly.
  • Sometimes UA feels like a continuation of high school depending on the people you surround yourself with. But you get what you put in, and so far, I'm liking UA after my first year.
