Major: Undecided (This Major's Salary over time)
Academics: The math department is HORRIBLE. online homework, lots of assignments, unfriendly, unhelpful teachers that generally speak poor English. The Spanish/ Portuguese department is awful as well. Everyone that I've dealt with is really rude and act like it's not their job to deal with you(even though it most certainly is). Overall the acedemics are very good, many opportunities and programs, most of which are very nationally high ranking. Social: There are ALWAYS parties going on. Several frat parties every night of the weekend, house parties everywhere, the Seasons and other apartments close by always have something going on. Pretty much any block within a mile from campus has a party going on on any given thurs, fri or sat. The greeks rule campus. Around 50% of people in UofA are greeks, more so for freshman year. It's almost overwhelming. There's very few people who are normal and not involved in greek life. if you want to be in a frat or sorority, UofA is awesome and very inclusive, if not, I would highly recommend a different school. Also, everyone here is pretty focused on looks and material possessions. If you're more of the chill, hippy type people, the vibe is way too uptight and snooty. You'll find a place and friends, but theres very a very small amount of people in that boat. More after freshman year. Town: South Tucson is an ugly, neglected town, falling apart. There's more vacant buildings around than a ghost town. It's really unsettling to go too far off campus. And scary. Campus itself is beautiful and relatively safe feeling, though there is the occasional streetwalker rolling through campus talking to themselves. It's a little nerve-wracking, but not bad. There's trees and plants everywhere, as it was originally an agricultural college. very well kept up. but stray off campus and its scary. University avenue has alot of good restaurants, and 4th ave, which is really close has a great vibe and a lot of fun shops. The city is huge and has a large variety of settings, but campus is in a bad part of town thats falling aprt like i mentioned above.
