Well I am almost done my first year at Lehigh and LOVE IT. First of, the surrounding town of Bethlehem sucks. Students can walk to a pharmacy, Wendys, pizza, etc. small places like that, but the mall and other good places are over the bridge and you need a car to get there (although the school offers bus trips frequently) There is nothing to do in Bethlehem or the surrounding areas, although NYC and Philly are close (I imagine upperclassmen with cars go there more than freshmen). The Greek life is huge, with almost half of the school being in frats or sororities. If you don't end up pledging your freshmen year (you can always do it later on) but I feel as if there is a strong division between Greeks and independents. The Greek scene isnt for everyone and living in apartments on campus or houses right off campus suits a lot of people. Basically everyone who wants to pledge finds a house thats right for them, and it turns out to be a great experience. Academically, we all work hard. (Then we party hard) The key to succeeding here is balancing your time between studying and your social life. Speaking of social life, President Farrington has really been trying to crack down on the frat parties, with more cops breaking up parties lately. So now instead of just working hard then partying hard, we also work hard at getting around the system. I feel as if everyone here works hard in their classes(of course some—notably engineers, more so than others). Also, if you're not white and preppy you probably would feel uncomfortable here. If you're not the type to wear polo shirts, khakis and sandals, you'd be among the minority. Students don't seem to mind that everyone here pretty much acts and dresses the same (I know I don't mind). People have called us stuck up and brats, but what can I say. Generally people all get along probably because we are all so similar.
