I graduated from 2008 so I guess I am an old head lol. Anyways, both of my parents and aunt went to Lincoln and I did not want to come to Lincoln even though I was given a full scholarship. I wanted to go to Cornell, because if you wanted to be somebody why not go to an Ivy League right? I ended up going to Lincoln due to my parents and it is the BEST decision that I ever made in my life.

Don't let that 30k a year education fool you that is provided at these schools filled with 100s of students and luxury dorms. If you are a student of color, you really need to be in smaller classes where it is clear that someone is there to advance the mission or dream that you have for yourself. I had two cousins go to Columbia and Harvard and were told that they could never be doctors with 3.5 gpas. I know people at Lincoln that had 3.0 Gpas, got their act together and are currently practicing physicians. Personally, I ran into some issues in my own life which took me out of the med school route and let me say this. Sometimes people are worried to go to HBCUs cause they think they won't get a job. I have been employed in the same position alongside people from Harvard and Brown and enjoy more of my paycheck because I owe Lincoln nothing. Don't fall into the thinking that a predominately black school is less in this world because it's not. Get the skills. Pay attention. And most importantly show up, be active and show that you are determined.
