Overall,
Muhlenberg is a great school. It has wonderful academic programs,
the faculty and staff are all on your side and
offer tons of programs to help you succeed in any
area of your life you in which you may need
help. The campus is gorgeous, extremely safe (guy or girl
can walk alone at night without worrying), the food is
unusuaually good compared to other schools (and I have been
to a LOT of universities and colleges), the students are
friendly, and the dorms are generally nice. The downfalls: there
is very little night life..you have to be careful if
you want to find a good party, internet service is
not free even though they say it is (you get
charged cash to netowrk your computer as soon as you
get to campus and it is mandatory), and the squirrel
population is obnoxious. As for student body population, you can
generally say that Muhlenberg is a “rich, white, Jewish school.”
For the most part, it turns out to be true.
You will come across very very few non-whites and a
lot of the students have a fair deal of money.
This does not mean that they are snotty or rude,
however. While there is very little diversity in race, there
is great diversity in personality, sexuality, and interests here. Most
of the kids are from PA, NJ, NY, and New
England.
The sports are not particularly great here and there
are no sports scholarships.
The Psychology and Business departments are
the largest, but Theatre/Dance and English are extremely popular. It
is a very artsy school with a huge focus on
drama and other arts.
The choir program is average,
if that.
The study abroad program is amazing and
offers study in almost an almost unlimited amount of countries
covering every continent except Antarctica. Study abroad costs no extra
tuition other than your plane ticket.
