There is a problem with two things. The first is English-speaking and the second is crime. Especially in the Math/Science/Engineering sections, specifically lower courses, have a lot of TAs and even professors who simply can't speak good english. This makes them extremely hard to understand. In an Econ class of 100, I just can't hear the guy! The second is crime. Many people say that it's not a problem here, but recently we have had two shootings, a stabbing, and many countless muggings. For someone who has never experienced city life, it can come as a shock. Be prepared—you're not in the suburbs!
