I'm not sure where these "ugly" comments are coming from. Have you seen the Cathedral lawn and the Union?I guess people who dislike cities may associate buildings with ugly, but Pitt is a beautiful CITY school. |
Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
The classes are very difficult and challenging. This school is a great value for the level of education that one receives. Also, I was pleasantly surprised by the diversity here on campus. I am referring not to racial diversity (though that too exists), but more to the diversity and acceptance of different ideas and customs; to a much greater level than in my high school. The only bad aspects to Pitt are that the campus is rather ugly and urban. Also, as a decently sized public university, you will become a number and slide through the experience unless you seek extracurricular activities and internship experience. There is, however, a ton of research being conducted and it is very easy to get involved in. Also, a comment to the scholastic prodigies out there; do not expect to come to Pitt and graduate at the top of your class, even if you are Ivy league material. There is an abundance of extremely smart people here, and grades are very competitive. A lot of people here chose Pitt over the Ivies due to money. Also, while it is certainly possible to be admitted, do not assume that the pre-med program here guarantees you a spot in Pitt's med school. It doesn't.
