I'm a "recent" graduate from 'Nova from the class of '05. Many of the reviews you read come from people who are still students and have probably never lived out in the real world or given one iota of thought to things paying student loan bills. Villanova is quite possibly one of the most overrated and most over priced schools out there. After graduating, I left with almost $45k in student loan debt for a degree from a university that no one outside of Pennsylvania has even heard of. I was actually in good shape, some of my friends left 'Nova with over $80k in debt and I know one engineering student that left with over $100k in debt just for an undergraduate degree. That was in 2005. How can Villanova possibly justify an increase in tuition of almost $10k for students in as little of a span of time as 5 years? It's absolutely absurd. Kids in college utilizing a lot of loans don't realize that the vast majority of them will enter the workforce with new job only paying $35-50k per year. A Villanova degree isn't special and any student who thinks that they are going to get a job starting out at $70k, $80k, or even $100k+ is living a pipe dream. Just be prepared for $600/month student loan payments while living off of only about $2500/month after taxes if you need to take out a significant amount of money to go to this horrifically overrated school. Don't ruin your life by being burdened with student loan debt because it will follow you around forever. You are 18 and graduate when you are 21-22, but after a while you realize that it'll be almost impossible to ever own a house, start a family, or travel the world until you are in your 40s when you are burdened by huge student loan debt all while working on a modest income. Quit bothering for alumni donations 'Nova, it's impossible to donate money when I am scheduled to pay off student loan debt until I'm 48.
