Hi I read your review and I found it to be very helpful. Like you, I enjoy culinary arts but I don’t really have the experience. Do you feel if I go to Johnson and Wales that I should take some classes beforehand? |
Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
I came here for culinary arts and i had a little of experience in the field beforehand, which isn't academically required, but socially required. because i wasn't as skilled as the rest of the people in my class i was outcasted almost immedietly. when i decided to change my major to business and commute from the "harborside" (you can't see the harbor because of the mounds of trash that are in the way) campus to the "downtown" campus i was outcasted completly, with all of my friends refusing to even acknowledge my existence. The teachers on the harborside campus were mean and condescending and completly not what i was expecting. i was belittled and made to feel like an idiot for not knowing the primal cuts of beef before taking the meatcutting class. my residence hall was not well maintained by the students mostly, but with someone coming to clean the bathrooms and hallways monday-friday. The food was horrible and not available on the weekends on the harborside campus. you have to take a bus to the closest dining hall on the weekends. the one nice thing is the Campus Convenience that is attached to the recreation center. it carries basic necessities, food, a Citizen's Bank ATM machine, and has a limited meal plan menu, although the food isn't good. The downtown campus is much more user-friendly, better maintained, better food, and i think had i started off there i would've enjoyed my stay a lot more. The teachers were nice, the students were nicer, and i learned a lot more there then i did on the harborside campus.
