Date: Oct 29 2011 Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time) CalArts is amazing. This is not like floating through classes and getting a good grade, its alot of work- both self reflective, as well learned experiences that can be applied to our future. Of course, you have to apply your self- which not a lot of artists can wrap their brains around so well. Well, the economy has collapsed, so Id recommend dont go back to college until there are jobs out there. YET I do anyone interested in a very subversive and highly educated environment, to go to CalArts. For your BFA, for your MFA, either one. They did cut the Interdisciplinary Studies program which is a shame. Even so, if you can only afford one or two years, or half a semester- It really is worth it . The teachers are very much available, and if they are not for whatever reason- they make it up to you in a respected manner. The classes kick ass, very mature content and very compelling curriculum (i was there 2001-2006) so back in the 2001-2003, it was still very much people walking around naked, classes that were not censored- very serious learning material, and hills to hike and meditate, work on your issues, and share a common ground. Granted these days I have heard that there are more snobby kids leering about, and that censorship is starting up a bit- BUT, eh. I say its totally worth it. Oh, but the Feminism classes are lame-, and the Photo school was a bit conservative at the time I was there.
