Twice during my time at BJU have I tried to transfer to another college. The first time I was talked out of it by my dormitory supervisor. The second time was this past year. The only reason I did not go ahead with transferring was that I am so close to graduation (twenty-two credits) that it makes no sense to transfer now.

A number of the faculty and staff have been a great help and provided advice when I needed it. However, an equal (if not greater) number of them have hindered, discouraged, or been entirely unhelpful to me. The only reason I have not already graduated is because of several faculty members who refused to work with my schedule and help me finish up the last couple of classes I needed (so I could graduate early and leave!!!).

This is a good school. I have learned a lot. Everyone basically leaves with a minor in Bible. But if you are not of their "camp" (or on their "Side") I would recommend finding a different school to go to. There is no room for different applications of Biblical principles (i.e. lifestyle standards like music, dress, hair length). That would not bother me if they only set a university standard- but they actually preach the rules.

The academics are great. I have a strong text based understanding of my subject matter. But it is a long, hard (at times fearful) four years. (I've been in the deans office and I've also been recommended as a campus leader- so i've seen all the sides of the beast). So, candidly? Unless you are a "died in the wool, I love BJU as a bastion of fundamentalism, I live for crappy organ music, my parents started paying for me to go to BJU when I was gestating" type of person- find somewhere else.
