When I was choosing where to attend college my senior year, I was debating between Baylor and another large, public state school. My decision to attend Baylor is something that I will never regret. The thing that stands out to me most is that the staff is concerned with each individual student. Students at Baylor are not merely a number but, rather, are the top priority of the University (as we should be). Baylor definitely has the smaller school feel but it is not suffocating by any means. The community is tight-knit and, after the students, is highly focused on their alumni. Academically, I have been challenged sufficiently. College DOES require much more time and effort but Baylor professors (usually) make course work applicable and each assignment helps further the understanding of the topics being taught in class. Furthermore, I really love the conservative environment that encompasses Baylor. Baylor is steeped in Christian tradition and does not waver from their core values. Their Christian roots are extremely evident in the way that they arrange their courses and different events throughout the year. However, Baylor does not single out those of different faiths and the student body, as a whole, is usually very accepting of non-Christian students. The only complaints I would have about Baylor is the social scene and Chapel. There are a some things to do (movies, restaurants, tortilla tossing, etc.) on the weekends but it is not necessarily thriving with activities. However, contrary to popular belief, Waco is quite a large town with many suburbs. As far as Chapel goes, it is a Baylor tradition that is stuck in the dark ages. Even as a Christian chapel succeeds in boring me to death. I'm glad that I'm done with my two semesters of it. Overall, I am so glad that I chose to attend Baylor and am excited to spend the next 3 years there !
