Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time)
What can I say… 30 years later, I still have frequent nostalgic dreams in which I am back at Rice. I always wake exhilarated , yet somewhat disappointed that the dream is over. If could only just return, just for a few semesters, and live on-campus without being seen as a pervert or over-aged freak… Ah, well. I have the memories. I will say this: Medical School was a somnabulistic cake-walk compared to Rice. It was actually boring, until I got into the clinical blood and death stuff. So RICE may not prepare you for death. But I can think of no better preparation to embark on a lifetime of learning and expanding. If you just want to grind out your days, picking up your nickle at the end of the week, watching Football and NASCAR, drinking beer, and cascading inexorably towards a meaningless retirement, and an even more meaningless death, then look elsewhere for your undergraduate education. Perhaps Texas A&M would be a good choice.
