I'm a junior at Texas State. First off, let me say that it's a great place to go to school, but also small enough to where it's not very overwhelming. I'll touch on a few of the basics here, that will hopefully answer some questions you've got.

Academics: Always plenty of courses to choose from, and if you can't get into the class you want; try talking to the professors. They always have a few hours every week where they are required to talk with students; make use of this time!! Some professors/classes are easier than others…ask around if you're not sure. All in all, it's not a cakewalk; but your university experience shouldn't be.

Residence Halls: You're required to live on campus for 2 yrs (they're talking about changing that requirement though) You'll probably have to live in a community style your first yr (it's not as bad as you think) Try to get into Residential College…they have better res halls, and you go to classes with the ppl you live with. Trust me, it's WELL worth it when you need help with a certain class!!!

Food: The food isn't too bad on campus. General rule of thumb: go to the buffet places for breakfast, and the others for lunch/dinner. You have to get a meal plan; but the food is pretty good, especially at Jones and the Den.

Sports: Texas State is Div 1 in everything except for football. All students get into every athletic event for free, so it's a nice, affordable option. Most of the teams are decent. The men's Basketball team is turning it around and will be really good in a few years. The women's volleyball team is always good and competes with UT and UTSA often.

Students: All in all, this is a great campus for beautiful girls. Every day you'll see plenty of hot women walking around…you won't be dissapointed! Most everyone is pretty chill, some of the Greeks are kinda snotty and standoffish…but most everyone else is really laid back. Don't feel obligated to go Greek. Most of the student population isn't Greek.

Surrounding area: San Marcos is a small town, with ok nitelife…there's a stretch of bars to go to, but it's best going 30 min north to Austin. San Antonio is only 45 min south…so there's plenty of options if you don't feel like staying in SM. There's always a party somewhere in town, so if that's what you're in to, you won't be dissapointed.

So those are pretty much the highlights of campus. Texas State is definatley worth a look. Check it out, you won't be dissapointed!
