The only reason I came to Texas State was for the full-ride i was offered in their business school. I graduated veru high in class rank.. Well, I'm soon going to turn down the whole "ride"… This place is a complete utter joke. The students CANNOT read or write, they complain about writing a three page paper, the faculty is a joke, they only care about getting their paycheck, they are also unrecognized…

The classes here are tailored to a rather lower-end bunch. The curriculum is NOWHERE near challenging. The quality of the education here is simply ridiculous.

I'm soon going to transfer to UT-Austin. No seriously, I am. Texas State is a complete utter joke and should be avoided.

What a nightmare, seriously. The students here are not bright, the campus is ugly, and the experience is pathetic. Don't waste your money here.

If in Texas, save your life and go for the best, UT-Austin (public ivy…and thats of you can get in)… that's where I'm headed…

commentThe University of Texas at Austin is not a public Ivy. It's just as putrid and antiquated as any other Texas university. Austin, Texas is a backward city inundated with a plethora of moronic and alcoholic country bumpkins and gibbering Asians. Texas is not a good state to get an education: it's only good if you want a brainwashing and if you want to be stifled.
commentUmm…well I sort of agree with this dude's response, though it's racist and xenophobic. If you go to college in Texas, realize that you're basically unmarketable outside of Texas. UT and Tech and State and A&M are all the same to people in other parts of the country. They're not "public Ivy." They're seen as football schools (because all that people know about Texas is that it has football schools). So all this garbage about reputation is stupid. That said, Texas State is as good or better than UT. The original comment is elitist and ridiculous. When he says "rather lower-end bunch," he means working class people and minorities. So, this guy's a racist and/or classist too, who thinks he's too good for everyone. Well, he's going to get a wake up if he goes to UT. Oh, which brings up the question—if he's so awesome, why didn't he go there to begin with? Something tells me he might not make it anyway…
commentTexas A&M University IS a "Public Ivy". The only Texas higher institution to be ranked as one. Research your facts before commenting. And both A&M and UT are nationally recognized academically.
responseNot sure why this evolved into commentary bashing the University of Texas and other top flight institutions across the state. I graduated from UT a couple of decades ago and just about all of my friends who graduated from the University have done extremely well in life. These are folks who were accepted into and graduated from some of the top law schools and grad schools across the country. Clearly, other top universities don't have much of a problem with the product being produced by UT. And the term "Public Ivy" has no specific definition, so whether a school fits the category is strictly a subjective call. What is very clear, is that nearly every respected institution that looks at these types of things, typically classify UT and it's programs as being among the best available at a public institution.
