Fresno state is located in an agricultural community. This means that 50+ of students are super religious, close minded and conservative. The city of Fresno is about 35 years behind in terms of social progress. If you want to attend, make sure you are not gay, too dark, have any sort of creativity or open mindedness. Do make sure you love your guns, your tractor, Jesus and the republican party.Some of the people here are so close minded that i wonder why they even bother coming going to college, i mean they already know everything they need to know from the bible so why are they paying 5K a year to scoff and roll their eyes when a teacher mentions evolution.

Are you serious? Sounds like YOU'RE the closed-minded one. You do know it's a Latino-serving institution, right? Meaning that nearly half (46%) of the student population is Latino? I feel sorry for the obvious lack of education you've received to make such ill-informed, blanket statements. It shows by your poor grammar and writing skills, too. Fresno State has clearly failed you.

She's speaking using figures of speech and caricature. She's not wrong with regard to Clovis and the surrounding area. The 35 years behind has to do with connotation of a university which is open, cutting edge, progressive, and place to experience, as opposed to merely an academy where one does time. Due to lack of competition and the recessionary nature of the community, it's not surprising that it feels controlled. Culture is supposed connote larger than life, not just larger shopping malls and fear-mongering.
