Texas A&M University was my first and only choice for college, though my decision was based on mostly non-academic factors (though the academic reputation of TAMU speaks for itself): Aggie Bonfire, the Corps of Cadets, and all the other assorted traditions (Muster, Fish camp, etc.) The campus atmosphere is huge positive, and the unity that is bread carries off campus - even in Europe I found friendly aggie based solely on the aggie ring. The best way to understand the intangible nature of the "Aggie Spirit" would be to come to a football game - hopefully a winning one ;) - just to experience the passions of the traditions and excitement of Aggieland.

I started out computer science for 4 years, and was very challenged by the curriculum… which in part drove me to be a sociology major. I honestly picked the degree to graduate me the quickest, but during the remaining year in college I was impressed with the depth and quality of the liberal arts program. It is very solid and expanding as many resources are being allocated to the Liberal Arts College.

Though I love the school it isn't completely heaven on earth - despite what some Ol' Ags might say; the student body as a whole is generally more conservative that most places, but it really isn't over bearing. The demographics are obvious to any visitor as the campus is overwhelmingly Anglo - not racist as some may claim - but also not necessarily the most open mind & diverse student body ever.
