TCU's Admissions slogan "It's About You" cannot be further from the truth. A better slogan would be "It's About Conformity." Half the campus is Greek and there is a huge polarization between Greeks and Non-Greeks. The typical woman is a runway model type bleach blonde with Kate Spade bags and high heels and guys are Abercrombie wearing, beer-guzzling meatheads.

The school is run by very right-wing oil barons with fraternity ties. If you are a liberal/nonconformist/or even like to think with an open mind, this is not the school for you. There were numerous racial, political, and sexual preferences slurs and fights.

Social life is what you make of it if you aren't Greek. A lot of non-Greeks just go home on weekends which sucks if you are out of state. The DFW Metroplex is one of the greatest places to live in the country and it was a shame that so few students wanted to take advantage of what it had to offer.

School spirit is weak in all regards. Yes, the football team almost cracked the BCS, but students are very fickle with the team. Lose one game and they'll quit going. All other sports are poorly supported. In fact the fraternity intramural basketball championship had a better attendance than some of the basketball team's games.

The career guidance center is extremely weak when I sought help from them.

TCU offers a great business program which I'd highly recommend. I was a journalism major and the school has lost its accreditation.

You'll find lots of lecture classes with teachers who could care less about you. Probably three of my ten teachers knew me by name by the end of the year. They have office hours, but a lot do not like to be bothered.

Classes are ridiculously easy, previous tests are easily available for Greeks, and most of the lecture classes where attendance is mandatory can be circumvented if you can find people to sign in for you. There's no sense of ethics at this school, but it's sort of a reciprocal process. If the school doesn't care put students in smaller classes with teachers who aren't there for research, why should the students give a damn either. I didn't do a damn bit of work in a year, was out late all the time, and still pulled a 3.5.

My recommendation is to pick a school based on what you can get in regards to academics. For me, TCU was a social pick—because the chicks were hot, Fort Worth was a rockin' area, it had a good football team, etc.. It was fun for a year, but I also grew as a person and realized there are more important things to my future than trying to chase after rich chicks and partying.

Again, yes the chicks are gorgeous, the campus is beautiful, Fort Worth is a fun city, there's beer everywhere, you don't have to try to get good grades, the male female ratio is ridiculously good for guys, but once you get past all the superficialities, this is not a good school for an education or personal growth (unless you are a business major). Just a camp for partying for 4-5 years before the real world.
