Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
At first, it seems like TCU is essentially a holding cell for the popular kids from high school until mom or dad decide it's time for them to take a stab at being a grown-up. But instead of complaining about all the nonsense that goes on at this university (no scene, no diversity, too much greek, bad undergrad housing, terrible food, no parking, stingy financial aid) students here just need to dig a little deeper to get the most out of life here. True, there are kids here that are sailing through life on the good ship cash money, and the financial aid office is similar to walking into a small business loan office (i.e. you better have a good plan to persuade some money out of their pockets), but you really need to go and ask—I've talked to some really helpful people there who helped me figure out a way to stay at this school when I couldn't pay for anymore. In regards to a social scene, it is neccessary to break out of your shell. Whether or not you decide to go greek shouldn't have any bearing on making friends here. I was greek for two years, and the majority of my friends were outside of the sorority! Imagine! And when it comes down to it, all my friends are not white, they are not all from Texas, some barely spoke English when I met them. So who is to say that TCU isn't diverse. Those who see a great divide between greek and non-greek on this campus aren't looking for friends, they are looking to judge people by the letters on their backs. Plus, Fort Worth is filled with a great indie music scene, a great art scene, there are tons of things to do outdoors, the shopping is decent, it's not by any means in the middle of nowhere (you can walk to a grocery store, a bank, gas stations, at least one bar and three music venues, a pizza place, etc…it's not anybody's fault is you're too lazy to actually do the walking. And one final thing: The "Christian" in our school name is something I never really understood. I can count the people I know that are very involved in personal religious beliefs and DON'T take part in the rampant binge drinking, drugs, and promiscuous sex that permeate this campus on one hand.
