Major: Mechanical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
I transferred here from the University of Alabama after I was very disappointed with their Engineering program. I was a bit nervous at first because UH is a very hit-and-miss type of school. I can assure you, however, that the University of Houston does not hand out Engineering Degrees to anyone that they do not feel confident in doing so. This College is EXTREMELY challenging. The students who are currently enrolled in Engineering are either serious about their career path or are promptly kicked out for poor grades. I've easily obtained internships at large companies and have turned several others down as well. We have a new president, Dr. Khator. She has already started rattling cages, removing problematic people and moving the university it the right direction. She is asking for student input, and she is getting it and LISTENING. Needless to say, the value of a diploma from UH will do nothing but increase in value in the years to come.
