Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time)
I love UNT, despite the fact that it gets a lot of criticism. I am a Junior in the Information Technology/Decision Sciences department of the College of Business and I cannot picture a more perfect college experience. While I fully recognize some of the challenges of UNT, e.g. many professors (esp in the business school) do not speak english very well and this and that, I feel like that gives me more initiative to be pro-active and actually MAKE the grades. I starting off as a marketing major and then later realized that that degree is way too unspecific. So I switched to Decision Science. With the quality of education that I am getting from the College of Business, I have already learned , first hand, that my undergrad degree in DSCI will keep me ahead of most employees that have obtained MBAs in related fields such as marketing and Bus. Admin. Even in the social aspect, I have learned to be pro-active. UNT is vastly a commuter school, but that just means that on the weekends you have to find things to do. Driving to Dallas, or just up the street to the local hookah bars never gets old. And what's wrong with having parties at home? Invite some friends over, break out some music and some red Dixie cups and that is as good as it gets. In conclusion, don't be afraid of UNT and don't be quick to judge too harshly its flaws. Come to UNT prepared as an ADULT and college student. Take your work load upon yourself, if you get a crappy teacher, study harder, don't wait around for huge social obligations to fall in your lap, don't be afraid of all the hippies, dont settle for some huge mainstream groupthink school… Get out and make a life for yourself at UNT because your college experience is only as good as you make it!
