This is a great school. I came here for the music program, which is the BEST around and it proves it because there are extremely talented musicians here. However, I changed my plans to go for Business instead of music.

There are a lot good teachers here, but there are also a LOT of bad teachers here that the students think of as "good" because they let a lot of SHIT slide. During my freshman year I was taking all core classes, one semester @18 hours, and I had a couple of teachers who would grade WAY too hard on assignments. The worst part about some of the classes is the final exams…even if the teacher grades your paper wrong you won't even find out the grade until it's permanent on your GPA!! I came here with a good GPA from high school and I wanted to obtain straight A's freshman year, but if you get the wrong teachers(which there shouldn't BE ANY), you can get…excuse my language, f in the arse.

I came from a town where there was a growing university literally 7 minutes from my house. My mom obtained her masters there and I could have saved a crap load of cash if I went there… but that's all in the, this post is just giving my past experience with this University.

Btw, I know they say high school has all the drama and college doesn't…FALSE…well at least here.

If you stay in the dorms you WILL be subject to drama. There are a lot of arrogant students here that over exaggerate crap and gossip a lot, even amongst some of the RAs in your dorm. I had a couple of bad experiences Freshman and Sophomore year, during the second semester of sophomore year is when I think I reached another maturity point where I learned to speak up for myself, stop denying bullcrap, and address those who are screwing me over! If you're the type that doesn't go home every weekend, stay on campus or in a local apartment with a lot of undergrad residents, then you gotta be careful who you hang with. During freshman year I broke out of my introvert like shell and became more of an extrovert. But once you find your identity you'll notice when you go out you'll see the occasional people around. Just watch what you say because Denton isn't as big as you might think and people do talk…and some DO talk sh%t!

Be careful because there are some crazy ass students out here as well. Go to parties and have fun, but watch everything that goes on and don't hesitate to leave the scene when it gets crazy! This all probably goes for any college campus, I mean this is the only college I've attended…so yeah just watch your back and keep your networking in the black.
