I'd like to give some helpful suggestions to those who are new to UT Dallas and Dallas, Texas.  UT Dallas is located in Richardson, Texas.  Richardson, Texas is located in north Dallas.  I know when I first arrived I was bored and didn't know of anyone or any place to go.  You can click onto this website http://www.utdallas.edu/suaab/ or call Center for Student Involvement if you are interested in doing student activities (972) 883-6551. 

Here are a list of places to go that are near UT Dallas:

- Foxboro Park

- Galatyn Woodland Preserve

- Cottonwood arts festival (biannual festival)

- Richardson Wildflower Festival (annual music festival featuring modern bands, legendary artists, and local artists). 

- Prairie Creek Park (features a small waterfall and trails)

- Harry Moss Park

- Obzeet restaurant, bar, and store located on 19020 Preston Rd.

- Fox and Hound English Pub & Grill

- The Shops at Willow Bend (shopping mall)

- Dallas: Latino Cultural Center on 2600 Live Oak St.

- GLBT friendly nightclubs are Station Four (S4), JR's, Havana Bar and Grill, Kaliente, Sue Ellens, Bill's Hideaway Piano Bar, Woody's sports bar, Alexanders, and Tin Room located in Oaklawn area of Dallas, Texas. 

- Cathedral of Hope is the only large progressive and liberal church in Texas.  It is non-fundamentalist and interdenominational.  It welcomes people of color and the GLBT community. 

- McKinney avenue and Knock/Henderson avenues offer excellent restaurants, bars, and big city life.
