When I was choosing a college I was trying to decide between W&M, JMU, & UVA. I ended up picking W&M, really because I have this younger child syndrome and I have older siblings that went to JMU and UVA and I wanted to "do my own thing." I was a little hesitant though because it has a reputation as being almost bootcamp-like when it comes to academics. Now, as a senior facing my final semester, I'm so sad to graduate. I love this school, and am so happy with my choice. The schoolwork has been as hard as I imagined, but not overwhelming. The professors and the student body are warm and intelligent. I had dinner with 4 different professors last semester alone. The students who hate W&M and complain so loudly are the students who can't stand not getting As, and need coddling in the academic and social scenes. Everything here is self motivated, the learning you do and the fun you have. I suppose I'm more of a "hang outer" than a "clubber," but I have great abs from all of the laughing I do here with my friends and other students. The place is beautiful, it has so much history, you have great people around you, and when the weather's warm everyone goes to the beach (well, it's on a river…), how can you not like it?! You really should check it out if you're interested b/c I honestly think that I have gotten more out of college than any of my friends who went to other schools.
