William and Mary is perhaps the most pathetic excuse for a college experience ever. The coursework is so hard, and the classes are hardly worth the effort. The student body is depressed and generally very awkward and weird. I thought William and Mary's bad image was overamplified in Virgina, but I was wrong - it deserves the terrible reputation it gets. Remember the students in high school who would always stick around after class to suck up to the teacher and discuss assignments? Imagine going to a school with 6000 of them. It is downright horrible. As for the social life and Williamsburg, even worse. The only way you can remotely have a decent social life is by joining what is considered a "top" sorority or fraternity; and they're are only about 5 - 6 of each. Even those parties absolutely suck compared to any other school. The administration makes it so hard for students to have a good time with their outdated and extremely harsh policies. Moreover, Williamsburg is one of the most backwards towns ever. No bars, no fun. It's a city full of old people who will find anything to bitch about. You can find some really cool people here, though, and luckily it lacks the arrogance of UVA; however, it is still just not worth it. In retrospect, I really wish I had transferred.
