Unlike other people I will simply state the facts and then if you want my opinion you can simply continue reading afterwards.

Hampton University attracted me because of their standards.  Lets face it people we all are humans and have sexual desires but Hampton U.  does not want us to engage in this type of lust but we are adults and they understand that.  But to keep freshman in line, and I am a freshman, we have curfews and are often punished for things other people do.  In fact last night when I fell asleep early in preparation for a test I was awaken by my roomate for another “mandatory” meeting.

I was very aggravated but I thought this is in the best of my interest.  Come to find out some nasty low lives urinated in the garbage cans in the bathrooms, many people didnt flush the toilets, and trush was covering the floor.  The dorm director told each floor to clean the floor under them.  “Ha ha,” I said thinking to myself I am on the first floor I will not have to clean a bathroom.  We had to walk all the way to the 5th floor bathroom and clean it.

And for the people who are curious as to the punishments of being late, I was late on the first day.  My idiot roomate, who constantly nags me like a little school girl, got us a ride off campus and we got back 4 mins late.  He was partly at fault, but I know I could have stayed in the room.  Anyways the R.A.'s tried to sneak us in but the dorm director caught us.  He made us sweep all the stairs in the building and take all the trah out.  If you think that was difficult you should have heard what happened last year.  We have stables on campus and 2 guys who were late were forced to shovel horse manure.

Dorms at every college will have faults so dorms are something to me that is minute, something that can easily be looked over.

The classrooms in some areas are terribly overcrowded.  In one class we had 60+ people in what was smaller than an average high school classroom.  After everyone who came early crowded into the limited space 20 people still couldnt get in.  20 people had missed class everyday because of the space.  Out of 1 month of class, 3 times we met a week, I only got into the class twice.  We have finally been relocated and my teacher can now get us into one room but he tells us in one week we are having a test.  In other areas of Hampton such as the Scripps Howard school we have spacious rooms.  This building is beautiful.  It is very comfortable and I enjoy going to a place I dont have to fight over a seat at.

The difficulty of classes is a large spectrum.  For an example in one class my psch teacher is trying to teach us how to right a proper essay.  “How do you think we got to college?” In other classes you have to be on top of your materials.  My political science class is difficult.  I study constantly for that class but if you do not come in with questions they often times will not be addressed.  Thats why it is imperative that a student studies because proffesors are teaching a large majority and it is impossible for them to understand all of our problems.

Teachers are busy.  It is a students responsibility to catch them.  In order to ask them a question your body must take action.  Teachers are sometimes lazy but stay on them because it is your money!

Now the financial aid department is screwed up.  I cant say anything positive about that.  I got nasty with a secretary looking for my scholarship money.  “Get up woman like it is your money you are looking for!” Let me stop.

The social life is boring.  Va is boring.  But hey lots of my friends go to the mall and clubs and we have fun together.  This is simple to solve.  If you want to have fun get friends.  If you want to be lonely stay in your room.  Pharrell the rapper often comes to Hampton and he is a lot of fun.

Now for my opinion.  Turn away if you dont want to read.

Hampton is disgusting and I am outraged by the administrative system.  I have constantly been promised money to help me.

I am one of 7 students who was promised a scholarship and then all of a sudden after Hampton is like “Pay Me!  Pay Me!  Pay Me,” my money to help support me is gone.  The orchestra teacher told me he was going to give me a scholarship for helping him out.  Comes to find out people who had scholarships prior to mine havent even gotten theirs.

College food is nasty but Hampton's food just took booty bad food to a new level.  They have failed many tests and have the nerve to lie in my face about it.  One guy I asked at the cafeteria about the food said he wouldnt eat it.  And to tell you the truth all of the people who work at the Cafe stopped eating the food.

Overall I hate the dorms, the food, the education is ok, the area is dull, the people are nice, but there are a lot of snooty people.  I dont like the school and I do plan on transferring.  But dont let this get you down.  You may like it because we all see different things in life.
