Hampton University is a great school.  The students here are overall nice; there are some snooty ones but there are people like that at every university.  There are alot of rich kids that go here but its not like they pick on others who arent as rich as them.  For the most part only the freshman girls dress up just to go to class & I would not advise other freshman not to do it b/c that is the easist way to spot a freshman.  The faculty does give everyone the HU run around but if you have any serious problems tell your parents because they listen to them.  The education is a great one with some challenging classes but i do not think it is worth $30,000 a year.  The university pushes one to succed because they do not accept anything below a “C” as passing (yes a “C-” is the same as failing in all courses).  Curfew is not that bad b/c it forces you to make friends w/ the ppl in your dorm & to study b/c establishing your gpa is very important b/c it becomes very hard to raise a low one later on.  and we also get off 2nd semester and homecoming week.  The food honestly is not that bad , even to me and i am picky when it comes to food.  The social life is dry if you stay in your room all day but there is usually something always going on in the student center and many clubs to join so it is what you make out of it.  The worst parts are the dorms.  There are roaches that look like the ones from men & black and never any soap, paper towels, or toilet paper in the bathrooms.  The maintence people never really clean and it floods like crazy.  Moton although diry is the best freshman girls dorm because the rooms are bigger and there is a nicer tv lounge and study room downstairs; but fyi there is only one kitchen & its on the 1st floor & there are only 2 microwaves so its gets annoying having to go down there so i would advise geting someone to write you a note for a fridge & microwave in your room.  Hampton does treat freshmen like children b/c many act that way & need someone to keep them on track.  The dress codes help students prepare how to dress in the proffessional world Overall I LOVE my home by the sea aka The Real HU : ).  The campus is beautiful & the upperclassman & everyone else really helps & wants you to succeed.  There are so many ppl wiilling to help one another that we really are like a family and the alumni are amazing.  I heard 90% of graduates get a job in their proffession w/n their 1st year out of school.  To all of those who are thinking about coming to Hampton I would advise you to come and be a part of our incrediable legacy.
