Major: History/Histories (art history/etc.) (This Major's Salary over time)
James Madison has been a great experience so far. I have spent a good two years and have changed my major twice. I am happy now to have a reason to stay another semeseter because of these switches. I for one, do not like how people refer to JMU as a party school, however it does take up the majority of the weekend nights. If a person wants to do something else during the weekends there's plenty to do. You just have to look around there are plenty of organizations that center around avoiding the partying atmosphere of the weekend nights. There is an overwhelming number of student organizations here at JMU. At the beginning of each semester there is a large organization night where all the clubs, organization, and Greek life get together with their booths to recruit people. As for the town that surrounds JMU. . . It is pretty dull in comparison to, say Charlottesville for UVA, but it does have some upsides to it. For one you can rent equipment from the recreation center and do numerable things outside. The town scene isn't the greatest of college towns, but it does provide every emenity that one could ask for.I have found being a JMU student does speak for itself in quite a few places. Its recognizable and people say good things about it while at interviews and in other interactions. I found it easy to get a good sophmore summer job and have landed myself a high paying internship in Washington D.C. I am sure JMU helped this happen.
