GOING TO ROANOKE COLLEGE WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE.  While the campus is beautiful and the faculty friendly, do not let that be the deciding factor when visiting the school.  The extremely small student body is worse than high school.  Gossip should be a major.  Students here do not know what diversity is.  Roanoke is a “college” that is made up of rigid, overly-exclusive groups of people.  Most are arrogant while a few are simply unhumanly shy.  Close-minded is a better euphemism for the students rather than barely-minded.  The academic standards are a joke and the student body's inclination toward academic scholarship is zero to none.  Racism and religious discrimination are underlying problems that are implicit in the student culture.  Roanoke College exists for the sole purpose of taking money from the parents of rich kids who could not get into the colleges of their choice.  If your intentions to go to college are to meet new people who will open your mind, intellict, and awareness to the world, RC is not the place for you.  If you want to be freed from your high school cliques the sports teams, frats, and sororities are not for you.  If you are a meat head guy, who is mighty ugly, rush a frat at RC.  And if you are a girl who likes pink or who can drink like a fish, I suggest rushing DG or Phi Mu.  Watch out for two-faced people who's only concern is benefitting themselves.  True life long friendship is hard to find at RC.  AND if you attend, be prepared for the student parkinglots to empty out on friday nights, yes it is a suitcase school.  People who enjoy RC are the people who went to military school and who are finally partying for the first time.  High school parties in my town blew the parties at RC out of the water.  If you are used to being surrounded by people whom you trust, respect, and believe in, RC will be culture shock for you.  RC is a pathetic excuse for a college.  I truely believe that the people who come out of there are no better than the store owners who hang confederate flags outside of their stores on Salem's Main St.
