Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
I was a bit hesitant to attend VCU because I'm from the country and It's right in the middle of downtown Richmond VA, but I think I am happy with my choice. This school is a unique one and it thrives on the diversity of it's students. Let me just say that I absolutely love the diversity here. Being from a South American background I was happy to see that there are other people from the same places and really from everywhere. It helps prepare you for a global experience and you make friends from everywhere. Regarding my major, I absolutely love it. However, it should be noted that these classes are not easy. The biology teachers here are mostly good; however, they expect a lot of you. The chemistry department isn't quite as great. I have had trouble with my chemistry classes since they are a co-requisite for Biology majors. The only complaint I really have about this school is some of the gen eds you have to take serve no purpose and you don't learn much from them. Also, the 45 credit 300 and above level requirement is AWFUL if you are a transfer student like myself. In regard to the city of Richmond.. It's an old city. There are really great areas to the west down broad street and I have had no trouble. I've never felt in danger or had anything happen on campus or in Richmond and this was probably my biggest fear. If you are interested in VCU then we would be happy to have you here. I'm loving every moment so far.
