My biggest problem with Tech is that everyone is exactly the same. Almost everyone is from an white upper middle class family from Northern Virginia. Tech preachs how diverse they are but the only diversity that exists is from what county of Virginia you are from. Everyone has the same bland personality. Students don't have unique passions or interests. Students often got moderately good grades in high school but only by doing what was necessary to get the grade. They don't challenge themselves to think beyond that. Students have no idea about what is happening in the world. They are happy living in their bubble of football and friends.

School spirit is insane but if that isn't your thing then you are alone on the other side of it. Tech's priority is keeping up its appearances and school spirit. Tech is one of the best schools for food but because they want to keep that record then they are spending massive amounts of money to constantly upgrade the food services. Tuition money is spent on sports facilities, fancy dorms, and new dining halls when it desperately needs to be put into the education.

I know people that came to this school just for the football which shows the priorities of many students. School seems to be a secondary thing to whatever agendas people have at Tech.

Girls and guys are pretty good looking at Tech but no one bothers to make themselves presentable. What most girls consider to be 'dressing well' is wearing gym clothing and sneakers because they are always on their way to the gym or just came from it. There is a lot of pressure to be thin and I predict that many girls have eating disorders. Girls make all this effort to be in shape but then continue wearing gym clothing and sweatshirts, god forbid they would put on regular clothing and look presentable for once.

Most teachers aren't great but if you find the good ones then they are amazing. Of course, only so many kids can get into that class though. Because of budget cuts then there are not enough seats in the classes that students actually want to take and are forced into less desirable classes.

I started out as a Physics major but will be dropping it soon because the Physics department SUCKS. The teachers are horrendous and I could learn the information better by reading the book by myself. The class average for most tests is an E which teachers curve insanely so that you mysteriously end up with a B at the end, though you still don't feel like you know the material.

For some reason I am doing more work in college but feel like I was learning more in high school.

Blacksburg winters are hell.
