Bennington College

Bennington has, in the last several years, gotten a lot of money from donations, primarily from alumni. The physical plant is being improved every year with both renovations and new buildings (most notably the new student center). The surroundings are beautiful and the charm of the older buildings unbeatable. I think it can take some time to get used to the size of Bennington, in many ways, both socially and academically. For me, the social part has proven to be wonderful. I was not so sure in the beginning, I felt like I had met everyone, and could not see who my close friends were going to be. Making friends takes time, all of my worries proved to be just Freshman anxiety. I have wonderful friends. In general, I have found Bennington to be a very warm, friendly close knit community.

Academically in some ways it can be limited. For some subjects there might be only two professors. There are not an unlimited number of classes that interest you or fit in to your schedule. I have learned, though, that what you can accomplish on a small campus is amazing! You can easily be a leader, or create things, have a voice, etc. I hold positions at Bennington that will be incredible to have on my resume. The ability to take classes at Williams and the Field Work Term make Bennington, in my opinion, an incredible school. I would not want to go anywhere else!
