UW-Madison is a good school for self starters. If you have the desire to be something, Madison will take you whereever you want to go. If you sit in your dorm room all day, nobody will come and force you to come out. A good mix of Wisconsin and Minnesota midwestern kids with lots of international students and more east-coast rich students than I expected. Lots of drinking and partying if that's your thing. State Street is great, the center of the campus community, lots of good restaurants and bars. Madison as a city isn't bad, there are a few things to do, about average for a city its size. Bottom line, if you want to play hard, party hard and work hard, you'll probably fit in at UW.
