Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
I highly recommend the University of Charleston. I actually spent my first semester freshmen year at another college so I can compare the University of Charleston to other schools. Here, the quality in professors as well as the resources available for programs, both academic and extracurricular, are a hard combination to find. Often, schools have one or the other, but never both. The University of Charleston is situated in the capital of West Virginia and therefore is able to provide unique opportunities that other schools cannot. For instance, as a political science major, I was able to watch the opening session of the state legislature without missing classes. This enrichment exercise placed a face to the material we were studying. I was able to see what I read about in action. Other schools would have had to travel great distances and missed several classes, however, that was not so with the University of Charleston. The faculty is dedicated to enriching their students, not only lecturing and giving grades on tests. Faculty know your name and face on this campus, which is a rare thing indeed. They care about your success and do their absolute best to help you succeed.
