Mudd is a great place if you're willing to work, if you're sure you want a strictly technical education, and if you like being surrounded with people who are, in one way or another, science/math nerds.  It is ranked as a liberal arts college, but frankly, the first year non-technical experience is disappointing.  For all the balance Mudd says you'll get in your curriculum, the single “Hum” (short for humanities) doesn't quite cut it.

I don't think the workload is as difficult as some make it out to be.  I was a two-sport athlete and have thus far survived.  The homework sets are interesting — I loved the physics and multivariable calculus ones — and normally not busywork, so it's not that bad sacrificing your life to them.  (evil cackle...) Anyway, the workload is totally manageable if you don't expect to be out partying from Thursday night to Sunday morning.
